My father has a husky 5 yrs.old. He also has a small dog and a cat. His husky protects those 2 as if they were his children. I recently moved in with my father with my 3 cats and 2yr. Old red nosed pit. Believe it or not ABSOLUTLY no problems. The husky loves to act tough barking at passers by, wagging his tail the whole time. He is VERY smart. Although I believe if anyone were to cause any trouble around here, he'd surely show his protective side. We've had different husky breeds and they have all been great family pets. Write down the qualities you are looking for in a dog and see which breed is the best fit for you.  Both dog breeds require a fair bit of coat care and are active dogs.  Huskies can be high strung and nervous dogs.  I strongly recommend training classes to help develop the type of dog you want and to strengthen your relationship.
