I agree with the chicken and rice remedy but it's good to have your dog fast for 12 hours while only offering water. Then offer the chicken and rice and even adding pumpkin to the mix can help.

If your dog seems quite healthy apart from the diarrhea, s/he will probably get over it quite quickly. In the meantime you can make him more comfortable by feeding him less than usual (not to strain his stomach) and giving very mild foods like cooked chicken and boiled rice. If it doesn't improve in a couple of days it might then be a good idea to call a vet.
If he is vomiting, feverish or seems generally unwell, though, it would be better to call a vet sooner rather than later.

I have 2 huskies and when they get this I give them all natural vanilla yogurt on their food.
Clears it up right away.

If this has been persistant diarrhea (more than one day or 4 trips outside) I normally give my dog amodium AD. It's one tablet in the morning and half a tablet everytime after that until the next morning. That of course is based on a 65 lbs lab. If you have a smaller, or larger, dog you will have to change the doses to avoid doing any damage or not halping at all.
Try chicken and rice for a couple of days, that has worked for my dogs in the past, or maybe like mentioned early change their food if the are constantly having diarrhea. Dry biscuits has also helped my dog to clear up their diarrhea in the past.
I am not an expert on veterinary medicine, however i do work in the medical field for people. I work in an emergency room, so i have medical knowledge.. Lol
The thing you want to realize about diarrhea.. Is that it is not always a bad thing. Animals (and people) get diarrhea for a reason. It is because your body has something in it.. And it is trying to get it out.. So you don't always want to stop it.. At least, not right away. How many days has it gone on? If its more than two or three days then you should make an appt to see your vet.
I agree with the other answer.. A diet of cooked chicken and rice for the next couple of days would definitely help with that.Very important - - make sure your dog stays hydrated!!!!!! Diarrhea can dehydrate your dog very quickly.. And that can be dangerous..You can also try giving him some immodium or even pepto bismal.. I've had both of my vets ( i lived in two diff areas) tell me that is ok. However i would consult with yours before giving any meds.. And only if the chicken and rice doesn't help.Like i said.. Sometimes you just want to let it run its course.
And.. It may be something as simple as a change in his diet. I know anytime i change anything with my dogs diet he gets the runs. Especially if i switch brands of food or something like that.Good luck to you and your pup :)
