Yes You absolutely can!! My dog has very bad eye and ear allergies, we've brought him to the vet several times and each time they give us allergy meds for him and steroids, however he has these reactions so often that we spoke with the doctor about running allergy tests, which unfortunately can run uppwards of $6000.00. Which we could not afford, in adittion we felt awful putting our dog through shots and antibiotics every time he started showing signs of a reaction s we discussed with our vet home remedies and other options. One of which was giving the dog benedryl when he seems to be having a mild reaction, to soothe the irritation nd avoid having t go to the vet, in adittion it helps to prevent a minor reaction from turning into something major, like many imes before he would start out being slightly itchy but because he would start scratching at his eyes and ears it would irritate them further and sometimes cause cuts and bleeding. Anyway I ran this by  3 different vets and each one said it would be fine, however I would still run it by my vet if I were you that way you know what the proper dosage is to give to your animal.
