Missy

When I take my little 12 pound spaniel mix on a walk she stops to pee about 35 times as we go around the block. No exaggeration. This just started last week. When she pees she takes a very long time and sometimes she isn't actually peeing. She doesn't seem to be in any pain. What could be wrong?

She is probably marking her territory.  It does become annoying though, when you are trying to take a nice stroll.  We purchased a pet stroller for our dog.  We don't use it all the time, but, when we go to the vet or want to take a walk without all the stops, they are a life saver.  Another reason we love our pet stroller, is it protects our dog while we walk.  They have a very nice strap they keeps them safe and from jumping out.

I would think that she is just marking her ground this is what my dog does. And so she can find her way round the houses.

Hmm, she could possibly have a urinary tract infection or worse bladder stones.. You may want to take her to your local vet for a UTI test and possibly an x-ray. :) I hope this helps.

Is she spayed? If so she is just marking her territory. The first couple times let her pee, but when she dose it the third or fourth time just tug on her leash a little and call her name.

She could have Bladder Stones. Have you Vet do a Urine Test. They will be looking for deposits in her Urine.
Good Luck!

Best to take her to a vet and I mean pronto. This happened to my little Aussie/Border mix a few years ago. The vet tried everything and in the end she had to be put down because of total renal failure. In the last week she would not eat and that was that. I could not stand seeing her waste away. She WAS 11 so it is difficult to say how she would have responded to treatment if she was just 3 or 4. The first sign was when she urinated in the snow and there was a slight tinge of pink and it was blood. 6 months later she was gone. But your pet could have a totally different result and I wish you the BEST.

I agree with kaitlyn.  Same thing was happening to my 10yr, 13lb bichon mix. She was treated for a urinary traction infection but it didn't help.  Turns out she had struvite stones,  they were surgically removed and she is back to her old self. I hope everything works out.
